Amy went to law school at UVA and practiced for several years in Greenville, South Carolina, before switching to writing. She has written numerous books and articles on legal topics, including LSAT for Dummies and the Essential Law Dictionary. She also has a Ph.D. in Plant Science from Clemson University and serves as coordinator for the South Carolina Plant Conservation Alliance. Her science books include the UXL Encyclopedia of Science and the UXL Encyclopedia of Weather and Natural Disasters. Her research, when she has time for it, focuses on the international IP regime regarding the ownership of genetic materials.
