In this lesson, we’ll discuss the severance of a joint tenancy with right of survivorship.

As we saw in our last lesson, a joint tenant’s interest is severed if any of the four unities of possession, interest, time, or title is destroyed. A severed interest is no longer subject to the right of survivorship. Instead, it’s held as a tenancy in common with the remaining tenants.
