Florida CLE requirements - general information

Rule Change
Starting January 8, 2024: each bar member must complete a two-hour professionalism produced and approved by The Florida Bar each compliance period. Additionally, “Bias elimination” courses are no longer apart of the required 5 credits in legal ethics, professionalism, substance abuse, or mental health and wellness programs. If a Bias elimination course qualifies, it can be approved for general credit. (

Florida CLE requirements

What is my requirement as a Florida-licensed attorney?

Florida-licensed attorneys must complete 30 credits every 3 years. Those 30 credits must include 5 credits in the areas of ethics CLE, professionalism CLE, bias elimination, substance abuse, or mental illness awareness, a 2 credit professionalism course produced by the Florida Bar, and 3 credits in technology CLE.

How can Quimbee help me complete my CLE requirement?

Florida attorneys can fulfill their requirement through a combination of our on-demand courses and live webcasts. Quimbee does get select on-demand courses approved by the State Bar of Florida. Quimbee's Florida bundle includes 25 general credits, 3.5 bias elimination credits, 3 technology credits, 1 ethics credit, and 1 substance abuse credit. All other courses can be individually applied for by submitting this application.

How else can I earn CLE credit?

  • Attend approved CLE courses, in person or delivered via live or recorded technology.

  • Lecturing at an approved CLE program

  • Serving as a workshop leader or panel member

  • Writing and publishing in a professional publication or journal

  • Teaching (graduate law or law school courses)

  • University attendance (graduate law or law school courses)

When must I complete my CLE requirement?

Each member of the Florida Bar is assigned a date to complete CLE credits. Dates are staggered to balance the number of members reporting each month. At least three months prior to the end of your reporting cycle, you will receive an email reminding you of your due date.

Can I carry over credit from my last reporting cycle?

No, carryover is not allowed.


Newly Admitted Attorneys

I'm a new attorney. When do I report CLE credit?

Newly admitted Florida attorneys must complete two phases of the Basic Skills Course Requirement. Phase I must be completed within 12 months of being admitted to the Florida Bar.


CLE compliance and reporting

When do I report the CLE credits that I have earned?

Florida attorneys must by report that they have completed their CLE requirement by the last day of the member’s assigned month.

How do I report the CLE credits that I have earned?

Throughout the reporting cycle, Florida attorneys can post the CLE credits that they earn by logging in to their Member Portal and entering the course reference number from the course provider.

How much time do I have to complete the courses in my compliance bundle?

Once you purchase a course, you can complete it any time you like. You will have access to a purchased course until its accreditation expires.

If a course is accredited in more than one state, is there an extra cost to receive certificates in all states?

Quimbee will issue certificates for attorneys licensed in multiple jurisdictions at no extra cost. We will only issue certificates for jurisdictions in which a course has been approved.

How do I receive my certificate once I’ve completed my course?

Once you complete a course, your certificate will be available for automatic download. We’ll also save all of your certificates in your account so that you can access them any time you need to.
