Definition

[from Terry v. Ohio, 392 U.S. 1 (1969)] A search of a person suspected of intending to commit a crime; the search is conducted by lightly patting down the clothes of the person (“frisk”) and must be limited to the reason for which the individual was lawfully stopped.
