Rule 803(4) of the Federal Rules of Evidence

Definition

An exception to the general rule in Federal Rule of Evidence 801 barring hearsay. This exception makes admissible a patient’s statements to a medical professional about present and past symptoms for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment.
