Definition

The federal “Wiretap Act” set forth at Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, which prohibits unauthorized interceptions of wire, oral, and electronic communications; establishes procedures for the obtainment of wiretap warrants; and regulates authorized interceptions by the government.
