Colleen Breems is an associate at Lavelle Law in Chicago, where she specializes in family and divorce law and litigation. Colleen has a certificate in family law and is on the Cook County approved Child Representative/Guardian ad Litem appointment list. She accepts appointments by Judges in Cook County to represent minor children in domestic relations matters. Colleen also serves as a Child Representative and Guardian ad Litem for minor children through Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. She sits on DePaul University Family Law Center Advisory Board as an alumni advisor, as well as on the leadership team of the Junior League of Chicago, and is also a member of the Young Catholic Professionals of Chicago. Colleen also sits on the Board for Empowering Women, a domestic violence shelter located in Chicago. Colleen received the Chicago Bar Association - David C. Hilliard Award for Outstanding Committee Service in 2022 and is a Super Lawyers Illinois Rising Star (2021-2022).
Colleen also obtained her certificate in Mediation Skills Training from Northwestern University. She speaks frequently on child and family law issues and is a regular contributor to the podcast series, “Chicago’s Legal Latte,” which can be found on BlogTalk Radio.
