Dan Lust is an attorney in the New York City Office of Geragos & Geragos. Dan has become a thought leader at all issues at the intersection of Sports & Law. His takes on a broad array of issues can be found on his social media, @SportsLawLust (Twitter/Instagram), or on “Conduct Detrimental,” the #1 Sports Law Podcast that he hosts.

After working for the New York Giants in their PR Department, Dan went on to Fordham Law School where he split his focus between Trial Advocacy and Sports Law. In the sports law realm, he served as President of Fordham’s Sports Law Forum and founded the National Basketball Negotiation Competition. He also worked for SFX Baseball, one of the premier baseball agencies in the country, and assisted on the arbitration cases for several MLB teams including the Cincinnati Reds, Minnesota Twins, and Oakland Athletics.

Dan parlays his sports-specific background to his litigation practice, where he represents a wide range of businesses and individuals in matters across the firm’s footprint. He controls cases from their onset to completion encompassing all facets of discovery, depositions, motion practice, and settlement. He has handled all aspects of trial, solo, and argued cases to decision in a number of different forums.

Named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in both 2019 and 2020, Dan’s insights on high-profile legal issues have been featured by sports industry leaders such as Darren Rovell, Dan Le Batard, J.A. Adande, Keith Olbermann, Bob Nightengale, Ed Werder, and Bomani Jones. This has led to appearances on national programs including, but not limited to, ESPN Radio, Fox Sports Radio, CBS Sports Radio, Mad Dog Sports Radio, SB Nation Radio, Tony Bruno Show, and SiriusXM College Sports. Dan has had countless segments on regional networks from New York, to Miami, to Houston, to Phoenix, to Los Angeles, and everywhere in between.

He has been published by Forbes, the American Bar Association, New York Law Journal, New York Business Journal, and Law360. He serves as Co-Chair of the Westchester County Bar Association’s Tech Law Committee and has been asked to present to judges and attorneys regarding the latest trends at the intersection of litigation and technology. He has spoken before the New York State Judicial Institute, New York State Bar Association, New York City Bar Association, and New York County Lawyers Association.

He has been the featured speaker for law students in programs with Notre Dame, Tulane, Tennessee, Loyola, Fordham, Nova Law, New York Law, New Hampshire, Florida, and Villanova, among many schools. He presently serves as a Professional Advisor to the Student Sports Law Network, a group he helped create, that is made up of law students interested in sports law from societies around the country.
