Oscar Michelen attended New York Law School and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1985. He was graduated magna cum laude and served as an Editor on the Law Review. He served as a law clerk for Judge Vincent Broderick of U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He is a partner at Cuomo LLC, a litigation boutique with offices in Manhattan and Long Island where he specializes in litigation in both Federal and State courts. Mr. Michelen has also been admitted to practice in various states around the country for specific litigation matters as both trial counsel and as an expert witness on a variety of legal topics, including the value and use of digital imagery. He was an adjunct professor of law at New York Law School for 8 years and currently teaches as an adjunct professor of law at Touro Law School for the past three years. In addition to his regular practice, he also handles cases of wrongful conviction, having exonerated 7 people in 6 separate cases over the past 15 years. A Dominican immigrant, Mr. Michelen is active in several organizations within the Dominican-American community as well as serving as President-Elect of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association and sitting on the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Legal Aid Society and the Nassau County Bar Association.
