Ancillary Proceeding

Definition

A proceeding that occurs incident to another pending legal proceeding. For example, if a decedent’s main probate proceeding is in New York but the decedent owned property in Florida, then there would be an ancillary probate proceeding in Florida to handle the Florida property.
