Blockburger Test
Definition
[from Blockburger v. United States , 284 U.S. 288 (1932)] Test originally used to determine whether a single act that violated two laws constituted one or two separate offenses for purposes of double jeopardy; under the test, such an act will be considered two separate offenses if each law requires the prosecution to prove some fact that the other does not.
