Captain-of-the-Ship Doctrine of Vicarious Liability

Definition

A doctrine imputing liability for a medical team’s malpractice to the team’s lead doctor; the doctrine is analogized from the maritime doctrine that the master of a vessel, being in total command, is liable for the safety of the vessel and its crew.
