Definition

A federal statute providing medical care at civilian facilities to dependents of uniformed military personnel who cannot be cared for at military medical facilities. The act is implemented through the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (CHAMPUS), which allows for the creation of facilities-sharing agreements between military hospitals and private healthcare providers.
