Definition

Copyright Act (DMCA) A federal law passed in 1998 that updated copyright law to reflect the modern digital age, including limiting internet service providers’ liability for copyright infringement for potentially infringing material sent over their networks. The DMCA also criminalizes copyright infringement of digital content and efforts to circumvent digital copyright protection measures.
