Ethical Screen

Definition

A term used to describe mechanisms put in place by a law firm to ensure that confidential information is not shared among firm lawyers, such as prohibiting discussing a matter with an attorney who has a personal conflict or preventing that attorney from having access to related documents or files. An ethical screen is sometimes called a "Chinese wall" or a "cone of silence."
