Definition

A federal program established as Title XIX of the Social Security Act in 1965 that the states administer to provide funds to low-asset individuals and their service providers for health care services. Benefits provided under the program are commonly referred to as “Title XIX benefits,” “Medicaid benefits,” or “medical assistance.”
