Definition

Official permission to temporarily enter, live, and work in the United States without being admitted, such as in the case of a humanitarian emergency or for substantial public benefit granted to an applicant for admission. When the purpose for parole has been served, the parolee must leave the United States or be returned to detention if the applicant was in custody prior to being paroled.
