Definition

The right of a patentee, invokable at any time during a patent term for nonbroadening reissue claims and within two years for broadening claims, to surrender an original patent and have it reissued to correct errors that deem the invention wholly or partly inoperative or invalid because of a defective specification or drawings, or because the patentee claimed more or less than having a right to claim.
