Pendent-Party Jurisdiction

Definition

A court’s power to hear a claim against a party over whom the court has no independent basis of jurisdiction. This type of jurisdiction may be granted if the claim against the party over whom the court has no independent basis of jurisdiction arose from the same set of facts as a claim properly before the court.
