Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB)

Definition

A qualification under the Small Business Act that is distinct from the Section 8(a) Business Development Program, SDB qualification gives government contract procurement assistance to businesses that are majority owned and controlled by disadvantaged individuals. A disadvantaged individual is one who is both economically disadvantaged and socially disadvantaged, typically because of racial or ethnic background.
