Definition

The rent a debtor owes from the date of filing a bankruptcy petition through the end of the rental period. The Bankruptcy Code treats stub rent as an administrative expense that takes priority over general unsecured claims if continuing to occupy the premises gave the debtor an actual benefit necessary to operate its business and preserve the value of its assets.
