Facts
The United States sought to condemn 62 cases of Delicious Brand Imitation Jam. The government claimed that the product purported to be jam and thus had to meet the federal definition of jam or be condemned. The district court denied condemnation, but the court of appeals reversed, finding that the product purported to be jam and was mislabeled because its ingredients did not meet the federal definition of jam. The jam’s owner appealed to the United States Supreme Court.
