Al Minor & Associates v. Martin
Ohio Supreme Court
881 N.E.2d 850 (2008)
- Written by Rich Walter, JD
Facts
Robert Martin (defendant) worked as a pension analyst for Al Minor & Associates, Inc. (AMA) (plaintiff). Martin memorized AMA’s client list, and when he quit AMA to start his own competing business, he lured 15 listed AMA clients to his own clientele. AMA sued Martin for violating Ohio’s version of the Uniform Trade Secrets Act (UTSA). The trial court awarded AMA damages for the lost fees its former clients would have generated. The appellate court affirmed. Martin appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court.
