Facts
Melanie Baughman and 26 other plaintiffs filed an action against Lee County, Mississippi (Lee County) (defendant) in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi alleging that their constitutional rights were violated when they were separately strip-searched at the Lee County Jail. Lee County moved to sever, arguing that the plaintiffs should have filed their cases separately.
