Facts
Alveda King Beal (plaintiff) was the author of the novel The Arab Heat. Following the release of the film Coming to America, Beal sued Paramount Pictures Corp., claiming that the film violated the copyright in her novel. The district court granted summary judgment in favor of Paramount. Beal appealed.
