Bobb v. Municipal Court
California Court of Appeal
143 Cal.App.3d 860 (1983)
- Written by Tammy Boggs, JD
Facts
During voir dire for a criminal case, the trial judge asked prospective juror Carolyn Bobb (plaintiff) whether she had a husband and, if so, his occupation. The question had been asked of all the female prospective jurors and none of the men. Bobb objected to the question on the ground that none of the prospective male jurors had been asked about their spouses, and she respectfully refused to answer. The trial court (defendant) adjudged Bobb in contempt of court. Bobb appealed.
