Facts
Bolling (plaintiff) was one of a group of African Americans who filed suit in the federal court for the District of Columbia to challenge the constitutionality of racial segregation in the district’s public schools. The district court dismissed the complaint, and Bolling appealed. The United States Supreme Court granted certiorari prior to an appellate-court decision.
