Facts
David Bruner and David Pitchford (plaintiffs) brought a products-liability suit against Anheuser-Busch, Inc. (defendant), the manufacturer of Budweiser beer. The plaintiffs had consumed large quantities of Budweiser. According to the plaintiffs, this consumption had led to their incarceration, alcoholism, and loss of jobs and families. Anheuser-Busch filed a motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim upon which relief could be granted.
