Facts
The Chicago Fireworks Manufacturing Company (Chicago Fireworks) (defendant) operated a fireworks display during a 4th of July celebration in the City of Chicago Heights (Chicago Heights) (defendant). One firework misfired and injured the Cadenas (plaintiffs). The Cadenas sued Chicago Fireworks and Chicago Heights. The circuit court granted summary judgment in favor of Chicago Heights. The Cadenas appealed. Chicago Fireworks was not a party to the appeal.
