Facts
Carter et. al. (plaintiffs) were employees of Countrywide Credit Industries, Inc. (Countrywide) (defendant) who, as a condition of their employment, signed arbitration agreements. Carter sued Countrywide alleging that under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Countrywide had to pay them for overtime. Countrywide moved to compel Carter et. al. to submit their claims to arbitration. The court granted their motion, and Carter appealed.
