Castle Rock Entertainment (Castle Rock) (plaintiff) owned the copyrights to Seinfeld, a popular comedy television show. Carol Publishing Group, Inc. (Carol) (defendant) published a book called SAT that contained 643 trivia questions about the characters, events, and dialogue in the Seinfeld series. Castle Rock sued Carol for copyright infringement.
