Facts
Chandler (defendant) was convicted of criminal charges in a trial that was publicly broadcast according to a judicial canon adopted by the state of Florida (plaintiff). Chandler claimed that the broadcast coverage had denied him a fair trial and moved for a new trial. The trial court denied the motion and Chandler appealed. The appellate court upheld the motion denial. Chandler petitioned the United States Supreme Court for review.
