Facts
While babysitting for Keith Brings’s (defendant) three young children, Jeanette Clark (plaintiff) was, without warning, attacked and bitten by the family’s Siamese cat. Clark filed suit against Brings and his wife to recover damages for her extensive injuries. After a trial, the court directed a verdict for Brings and subsequently denied Clark’s motion for a new trial. Clark appealed.
