Clinton v. Nagy
United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio
411 F. Supp. 1396 (1974)
- Written by Alex Ruskell, JD
Facts
Brenda Clinton (plaintiff) was a 12-year-old girl who wanted to play football in the Cleveland Browns Muny Football Association. Clinton signed the required agreement and otherwise met all the requirements to play. Clinton also signed an additional special waiver regarding any injuries she might receive while playing. However, John Nagy (defendant) and others who ran the football league refused to let Clinton play because she was female. Clinton sued for a temporary restraining order enjoining Nagy from prohibiting Clinton from playing in the football league.
