Professional Real Estate Investors, Inc.’s (defendant) hotel, La Mancha, rented videodisc movies from its gift shop to its guests for a daily fee per disc. Guests viewed the videodisc movies in their rooms, each of which was equipped with a large-screen projection television and videodisc player. Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. (plaintiff) brought suit for infringement after learning of these activities at La Mancha.
