Commonwealth v. Skipper
Superior Court of Pennsylvania
294 A.2d 780 (1972)
- Written by Craig Conway, LLM
Facts
Robert Gerald Skipper (defendant), asked a fellow prison inmate to procure several hacksaw blades in exchange for $150. The inmate, a day-release prisoner employed at a nearby bakery, concealed the blades in loaves of baked bread and transported them inside the prison. After receiving the blades, Skipper provided the inmate with a note to obtain the $150 from another inmate. Prison officials intercepted the note which referenced the concealed hacksaw blades and later found two of the blades inside Skipper’s cell. Skipper was charged with and convicted of attempted prison escape. Skipper appealed pro se.
