Facts
John Begley (plaintiff) was injured and sued CSX Transportation, Inc. (CSX) (defendant) for negligence. A jury found CSX liable and awarded Begley $250,000 for future pain and suffering. CSX requested that the trial court require the jury to reduce the future-pain-and-suffering award to its present value, and the trial court denied the request. CSX appealed.
