Facts
Student Jane Doe (plaintiff) brought a Title IX discrimination suit against Old Dominion University (defendant) for subjecting her to a hostile educational environment after an on-campus sexual assault. The university sought discovery of more than 150 emails between Doe and her victim advocate, but Doe objected on privilege grounds. The university countered that no such privilege exists and asked the court to compel Doe to produce the emails.
