Facts
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) (plaintiff) claimed that United Airlines, Inc. (United) (defendant) violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by adopting a policy under which United would not grant a requested accommodation to a disabled employee if doing so would violate the company’s policy of hiring the best-qualified candidate. The district court ruled in favor of United. The EEOC appealed.
