Eve of Milady v. Impression Bridal
United States District Court for the Southern District of New York
957 F. Supp. 484 (1997)
- Written by Jody Stuart, JD
Facts
Eve of Milady and Milady Bridals (collectively, Milady) (plaintiffs) designed and sold original wedding dresses. Milady also created lace designs for the fabric used to make the wedding dresses. Milady registered copyrights for these lace-fabric designs. Impression Bridal (Impression) (defendant), a wedding-dress manufacturer and retailer, sold dresses that were notably similar to Milady’s, including the lace designs used. Milady filed a claim for infringement of the lace-design copyrights and sought a preliminary injunction restraining Impression from infringing such copyrights.
