Facts
During Prohibition, a vessel registered in Canada (plaintiff) named I’m Alone smuggled liquor into the United States (defendant). The vessel was owned and controlled by United States nationals. In March 1929, the United States Coast Guard came into contact with I’m Alone in the Gulf of Mexico and sank the vessel. Canada brought a claim for damages.
