Imperium IP Holdings (Cayman), Ltd. v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas
259 F. Supp. 3d 530 (2017)
- Written by Sean Carroll, JD
Facts
Imperium IP Holdings (Cayman), Limited (Imperium) (plaintiff) sued Samsung Electronics Company, Limited (Samsung) (defendant) for patent infringement. At trial, Imperium called Dr. Cameron Wright as an expert witness. Wright’s testimony went through every element of Imperium’s claim of infringement, using several pieces of data and evidence to support his assertions. Wright did not present the jury with every piece of that evidence but was subject to cross-examination by Samsung. Because Wright did not present the jury with every piece of his underlying evidence, Samsung objected to the testimony.
