Facts
After South Carolina adopted a sweeping, comprehensive discovery rule designed to stop discovery abuses during depositions, the state bar brought disciplinary proceedings charging an unnamed attorney (respondent) for deposition misconduct. The South Carolina Supreme Court took the opportunity to issue a written opinion to alert the bar to the new rule, generally address attorney conduct during depositions, and make attorneys aware of what actions could result in sanctions.
