Facts
During the divorce proceedings between Britney Spears (plaintiff) and Kevin Federline (defendant), Spears brought a motion to seal the court file regarding all issues in the dissolution matter surrounding child custody and visitation. Federline joined in the motion. The parties argued that the case had generated an enormous amount of media interest and that disclosure of the information they sought to seal could pose a significant threat to the security of their children and could cause the children extreme embarrassment as they got older.
