Facts
The mother of 13-year-old Andrew Dino (defendant) contacted the police. The police asked the mother to take Dino to the police station, and she complied. The police isolated and interrogated Dino. The police did not inform Dino or his mother whether she could be present during the interrogation, and neither Dino nor his mother asked the police to allow the mother to be present during the interrogation. Dino confessed to committing murder.
