692 N.E.2d 1072 (1997)

Facts
Milton Good Jr. (defendant), a juvenile, was charged in juvenile court with aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. The original complaint filed after Good’s arrest did not contain a specification of the type of firearm Good was alleged to have used, but a hand-written note containing a firearm specification was found in the court file. The hand-written firearm specification was not file-stamped by the court or attached to the original complaint. Typically, a typed complaint based on the original hand-written complaint and containing a firearm specification is filed later, but a typed complaint was not found in Good’s file. Good was verbally informed of the charges, including the firearm specification, by the juvenile court at a hearing on January 19, 1996. At a hearing on January 30, 1996, Good was also informed by the juvenile court of the possible consequences of the charges. Following the January 30 hearing, Good was adjudicated delinquent on both charges. Good later appealed his adjudication.
