Fort Peck Court of Appeals
13 Am. Tribal Law 441 (2016)
- Written by Meredith Hamilton Alley, JD
Facts
Raymond Lamb (defendant) and Heather Daniels (plaintiff) were not married when they had a child together. The child’s birth certificate named Lamb as the father, and Lamb executed a paternity acknowledgement under oath. A child-support matter against Lamb was brought in the Fort Peck Tribal Court. Lamb was given proper notice of the matter and the hearing on the matter, but he did not appear. The court found that Lamb was the father of the child and ordered Lamb to pay child support. Lamb appealed, arguing that the court improperly found that he was the father of the child, among other things.
