Facts
The plaintiffs, all under 13 years old, filed a multidistrict class action, alleging that Viacom and Google (defendants) violated the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) by tracking the webpages the plaintiffs visited and the videos the plaintiffs watched on Viacom’s website. Specifically, the plaintiffs alleged that their internet protocol (IP) addresses and other digital identifiers constituted personally identifiable information under the VPPA, and that Viacom disclosed that information to Google.
