Facts
Misty Jobe (plaintiff) filed an action against Alliance Collection Service (Alliance) (defendant) claiming Alliance violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) in attempting to collect a debt from Jobe. Alliance filed a counterclaim seeking to recover the underlying debt from Jobe. Jobe filed a motion to dismiss the counterclaim, arguing that the court lacked subject-matter jurisdiction.
