Knox v. Unemployment Compensation Board of Review
Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court
315 A.2d 915 (1974)
- Written by Jenny Perry, JD
Facts
William Knox (plaintiff) was laid off by H. K. Porter Company (Porter) when Porter closed the plant in which Knox had worked for 17 years. While receiving unemployment-compensation benefits, Knox got a referral for a position similar to the one he held at Porter. During his interview, Knox mentioned that he might be recalled by the Porter plant’s successor and that, if so, he would return to work there. Knox was not hired after the interview, and his unemployment benefits were terminated. Knox appealed the denial of benefits. The Unemployment Compensation Board of Review (board) (defendant) affirmed, and Knox appealed again.
